Clandeboye Environmental Centre

Chapel bell in the courtyardDendron Lodge is an attractive, late eighteenth century building located within the courtyard area of Clandeboye Estate, used by CVNI and available for hire to outside users. It provides the following:

  • A venue for meetings, workshops and training events
  • Conference facilities
  • Residential accommodation
  • Environmental training and educational events

Features

  • Lecture room measuring 5.5 x 8.5 metres, comfortably seating up to forty people. Equipment provided includes a laptop and projector, overhead projector, flip chart, slide projector, television and video.
  • Open plan living room and dining room with double-sided feature fireplace.
  • Eight bedrooms allowing up to twenty seven people to stay residentially. All bedrooms have wash-hand basins and bathrooms located nearby.

Environmental Training

Dendron Lodge dining roomConservation Volunteers Northern Ireland runs a programme of training to help anyone who wants to gain the knowledge and skills to improve their environment. Dendron Lodge is the venue for many training courses. A few of the subjects in which training is available include:

  • Recycling
  • Drystone Walling
  • Pond Creation
  • Plant Identification
  • Community involvement
  • Chainsaw use and maintenance

Training in teamwork and leadership skills

Training and activity programmes are also available in people management skills, including:

  • Leadership
  • Team building
  • Communication

Educational visits

The nature trail running from Dendron Lodge to the estate lake, together with the surrounding woodlands, is used as a venue for environmental education and visits by schools and youth groups to learn more about the environment.

Programmes can vary from a few hours to a full day. Further information is available on request.

Clandeboye Courtyard

The courtyard is fully enclosed by the main halls and meeting rooms. It is ideal for outdoor activities and is floodlit for evening events.

Marquees may be erected within the courtyard to extend the capacity of any of the main halls. Adjacent to the courtyard is a small walled garden, useful for photography or as an outdoor breakout area.

Banqueting hall

Built by the first Marquess of Dufferin & Ava in 1898, the recently restored Banqueting Hall seats 160 guests at round or rectangular tables for dinner, or 250 delegates seated theatre-style for conference.

James Frazer room

Originally the indoor tennis court, the James Frazer Room seats up to 100 dinner guests at round or rectangular tables or 120 delegates theatre-style for conferences.

All of the facilities within the courtyard are available for hire, either as a shell or fully serviced, depending on your requirements.

TERMS OF BOOKING & CONDITIONS OF USE:

To facilitate organisation of staff and purchase of supplies for residential groups requiring catering, we require confirmation of final numbers at least one week before an event is scheduled to take place. If there is a reduction in the number of participants compared to the number originally confirmed we will still invoice for the original number.

A non-refundable deposit has to be paid at time of booking.
