Young and old
16 December 2008
Young people in Carrickfergus have been working with a group of pensioners to help brighten up their garden.
Children from the PAKT after school club, based in Sunnylands Youth Centre, have been working with residents from Northlands Fold as part of an inter-generational project over the past month.
The children and residents have worked together to make improvements to the Fold garden by planting bulbs and shrubs and decorating pots for winter flowers.
Both the children and residents are learning about environmental issues while taking practical action to help increase the biodiversity of the area by planting native species and providing food for birds over the winter months.
The project will continue in the New Year with tree planting and the installation of a path and seating area for the residents.
