Shrub planting at Ballymurphy

1 July 2008

At the start of June 2008 it was the boys turn to help with shrub planting at the Upper Springfield Community Development Forum.

Pupils from St Aidan’s Primary School helped plant a variety of shrubs to improve an area of green space which was previously neglected and covered in litter.

The boys divided into two teams, one collecting litter and the other helping to plant the shrubs. The project followed the planting on an adjacent site by girls from St Bernadette’s Primary School.

The Breathing Places project has involved pupils from both schools in a variety of activities to raise awareness of environmental issues and the pupils have carried out practical improvements in their school grounds and in public spaces in the Ballymurphy area.
