Seeing Red at Gransha
6 February 2009
The new squirrel feeders at Gransha Wood (one of our sites near L’Derry) have attracted some very hungry visitors recently.
Red squirrels, sometimes three or four at once, have been seen regularly in the wood in recent months and one of our volunteers, Claire Hampson, was quick on the draw with the camera to capture one on the little critters on film when it turned up for lunch.
CVNI L’Derry have been managing Gransha Wood for over 7 years now and during this time native red squirrels have become a more visible presence.
We can only hope that this is a good sign and that they’ll be enjoying the wood and we’ll be enjoying them enjoying the wood for many years to come.
