On your bike!
5 January 2008
Conservation Volunteers in Belfast have teamed up with Sustrans on a local community project, which has seen Belfast community staff and volunteers getting on their bikes to help the environment.
In the first of a series of events, staff and volunteers from Conservation Volunteers and Sustrans arrived on bicycles, with a trailer in tow, to minimise the environmental impact of running the project. The trailer, provided by Sustrans, carried tools, gloves, hard hats and a first aid kit and proved it’s not always necessary to load up a van when heading out to site!
All those involved in the first event enjoyed the experience of travelling by bike and Conservation Volunteers have committed to travelling to the site by bicycle throughout the project, which will involve the local community in tree planting in the new year.
