New community garden in Ballymurphy
15 August 2008
Conservation Volunteers have helped create a new community garden in Ballymurphy. The project involved pupils from two local primary schools, St Aidan’s and St Bernadette’s and staff from the local Intervention project.
Over the last few months areas around the Top of the Rock Health Living Centre have been cleared of overgrown vegetation and litter and have been replanted by new shrubs and herbs. New seating allows visitors to enjoy the garden for socialising or for time away from the busy Centre.
The garden was constructed as part of the Breathing Places project
which involved local schoolchildren in practical improvements as well
as visiting other environmental projects around Northern Ireland.
The garden will officially be opened later in the summer.
