Green Gym Poem

1 July 2007

Gathering up every Monday along with the professional help too
We learn so very successfully of what we have to do
To maintain a lovely garden with blooms so very bright
Makes it all so very worthwhile, that we have tried with all our might

With all the hard work we have realised and do proudly see too
Especially making it noticeable on the sunny days and the lovely skies so blue
We were with all the lovely nationalities with personalities so sublime
Who give us so much time of their patience and their constant time

The gardens in the hospital grounds became so bleak and sad
So some of the patients through the green gym worked hard that it wouldn’t look so bad
The work was hard but all the result did always shine through
It was worth many of the trials in what we had to do

The garden now looks exceptionally good
Supposedly the way it always should
The weeds will now not be seen
As the leaves will show their lustrous green

Even in the months of mingled gloom and glory, sun, shadow, fog and rain
Our garden will resume its loveliness and all the hard work and tender care will then be showing gain
How the drab and dull garden would seem without its colour tones
Nature paints all the flower and all the many stones

It will be long until we are doing the same old jobs digging and some hoeing
We have all the paths to weed and continuing to do the planting and growing
All the fruitfulness and the rich reward will be seen for all the labour of these days
We will feel so good when for this work as we will certainly get some praise

We will get a glow of constant pride that we’ll have done well by head or by hand
We can see the work beginning to really turn out the way we had planned
With thanks to all the conservation girls who were very helpful while we all work there
Also while being at the Green Gym us all thoroughly enjoyed the fresh air
