Get in the Game!

29 October 2009

People outside Stormont

Stop Climate Chaos Northern Ireland with help from Ulster and Ireland rugby star Stephen Ferris launched its ‘Get in the Game!’ campaign on 22 October at Stormont.

With regards to making progress on reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, Northern Ireland is lagging well behind. Stop Climate Chaos Northern Ireland is calling on our Assembly to introduce a climate change bill for Northern Ireland with targets that at least match those in the UK Act, creating a sustainable economy with a greatly reduced dependence on fossil fuels which makes economic and environmental sense.

What can you do? Stop Climate Chaos Northern Ireland is organising a mobilisation event on 5 December as part of the build up to the United Nations Climate Change negotiations in Copenhagen. ‘The Wave’ come together to stop climate chaos, will create the opportunity for you to demonstrate your support for safe climate futures for us all. Taking place at Bank Square, off Royal Avenue, Belfast, the Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Naomi Long MLA will lead a (Mexican) wave for local and international action on climate change.

Conservation Volunteers is a member of Stop Climate Chaos Northern Ireland, a coalition of a wide range of environment and development groups seeking to raise awareness of climate change and to change behaviour and public policies to deliver local and global benefits.
