Garden wins Bronze Award!

24 June 2008

Bed made from old logs at the garden show

The garden Make Room for Wildlife, designed by Conservation Volunteers and Derry City Council (DCC), was honoured with a bronze award at The Garden Show Ireland that took place recently at Hillsborough Castle.

The garden, built by ourselves, DCC and Sow & Grow, was an ensuite bedroom made up of unique and fun features – a bed made from old logs, a bedside cabinet converted into a bee hive, a chest of drawers as a five storey insect hotel, a standard lamp made from an arrangement of bird feeders, a hand sink that doubled up as a bird bath with the toilet being a dry compost heap. And to finish it off, the medicine cabinet was full of herbal remedies.

Conservation Volunteers wish to thank all the volunteers, staff from Derry City Council and Sow & Grow for a job well done! Why not watch a short video from the Garden Show
