Environmental Protection Agency

22 April 2008

Aine Gormley in front of Stormont

For several years now, as part of the Coalition for Environmental Protection, Conservation Volunteers Northern Ireland has been campaigning for Northern Ireland to have its own Environmental Protection Agency. Equivalents already exist in the rest of the UK and Ireland.

Most political parties and many businesses are supporting this campaign and they were joined on 15 April 2008 by Green Beauty Queen, Aine Gormley, otherwise known as Miss Earth (an expert in “human-chemical-ecosystem interactions”).

Aine took a wheelbarrow full of petitions calling for the creation of an Environmental Protection Agency up to Stormont to demonstrate the huge public support for setting up this vital body.
