Cavehill path restoration project gets underway!
26 February 2008
Conservation Volunteers have started an exciting project to improve the paths within Cavehill Country Park. The project, in Partnership with Belfast City Council, will involve improving existing paths and steps, as well as clearing vegetation and treeplanting.
The project was due to start in early January, with the materials being airlifted to site by helicopter. Wintery weather conditions hampered several attempts to deliver the materials but now, with everything in place, the practical work has got underway.
Work will take place on site three days a week with occasional projects on Saturdays to allow more people to become involved. The project will involve volunteers from the Cavehill Conservation Campaign group, local schools and employees from Belfast City Council and private companies. New volunteers and groups are welcome to join the project, no experience is necessary and full training will be given on site.
Anyone interested in volunteering on the Cavehill Path Restoration project can contact Helen Tomb or Neville Walker for more information – telephone 028 9064 5169.
