People tree planting, including Robin Newton MLA

Conservation Volunteers teamed up with the Connswater Community Greenway project to plant some trees on Saturday 28 November last.

As part of National Tree Week, local residents and politicians planted a number of native trees in Dixon Playing Fields. Robin Newton MLA and John Kyle MP joined local families in the tree planting event which will help to improve the biodiversity of the playing fields.

The event is the second in a series of events which include clearing gorse in Cregagh Glen, restoring a community garden in Dee Street and wildflower planting in Victoria Park.

The Connswater Community Greenway is a £32 million investment in East Belfast that aims to create a 9km linear park through East Belfast, following the course of the Connswater, Knock and Loop Rivers.
