It doesn’t snow very often in Northern Ireland, but higher up in the hills of Newtownabbey there is a greater chance of it happening. It had certainly happened this morning, but the warmth of the sun very quickly melted it away from the field where we were planting – fortunately!
The school has a large field consisting mostly of a football pitch. Along one edge of the field, the children planted a line of 10 larger rowan and downy birch trees to provide some height and additional shelter for insects and birds.
