Date: 5 March 2008
No. of trees planted: 80
No. of people involved: 23
On the afternoon of Wednesday 5th March, we were in St. Francis Primary School in Craigavon.
After a warm cup of tea we were ready for work! The weather was windy and wet, so all of the children were decked in good clothes to face this. Hopefully, because the ground was very damp and muddy for the pleasure of the kids!
With a team of younger children, about 20 of them, we planted 80 oak and birch trees – some of them were small and 5 trees were bigger.
We planted the trees in a semi-circle around the play area. After an demonstration by Jeff for the kids, they worked by pairs, one digging and the second planting the tree! The school had also been given some trees from elsewhere, but some of these were already dead, so we helped save the remainder!
The children had a fun and so did we!
