Sharman Community Group, Crawfordsburn (2005)

Date: 26 February 2005
No. of trees planted: 75
No. of people involved: 20
A local residential community group lives close to the lovely Crawfordsburn Country Park and runs down to the seashore. To improve the transition from woodland in the country park to the residential area, and to bring together members of the community, the residents applied for some trees.
Below the wall of the old walled garden (now used by Conservation Volunteers Northern Ireland to grow trees) we planted 75 downy birch, rowan and hazel trees to add extra benefit to the area for the birds, insects and mammals, and not least the people!
A very welcome tea and biscuit break warmed the fingers on a lovely late winter’s Saturday morning.
