With help from the residents of Merville House, the International Tree Foundation, the Mayor of Newtownabbey and the local Jujitsu club, Conservation Volunteers organised a mass tree-planting event.
Although we weren’t planting masses of trees, the main benefit of an event like this was the bringing together of the community. Merville House already has a very active community, but a day helping to improve the grounds can only help.
An area of grass was filled with native trees and shrubs to try and provide a corridor through the grounds between other green spaces.
