Make A Difference Day with Conservation Volunteers

People working in the Wildflower Nursery to make a difference

CSV Make a Difference Day was about getting out there and actively making a difference through volunteering – giving your time to provide practical assistance, rather than raising or donating money. Everyone could volunteer on the day to make a visible difference to their community.

In conjunction with the Northern Ireland Tree Campaign, our Wildflower Nursery in Belfast opened their gates on the 27th October 2005 to welcome everybody and encourage them to take part in the work that volunteers enjoy there everyday.

In addition, make a difference day participants were invited to join in one of two Autumn Seed Harvest Workshops that took place, and to discover the art of growing native trees from seed. The workshops also attempted to show people the reason why trees are so important for the environment and for life on earth. Volunteers on the day came from a wide range of backgrounds.

The sun made a brief appearance on the day, which helped make the day a really enjoyable experience for all who braved the weather to try and make a difference.
