Peter White, Environmental Officer for the port, wants to improve the area around the port for the benefit of biodiversity. To help them do this, we supplied them with a small number of native trees and they supplied some local schoolchildren to plant them!
The day was bright but cold. This didn’t deter the children though and they eagerly worked their way through the trees in no time at all – it ended all too quickly for them as they had to go back to school!!
However, we followed them back to their school – St. Oliver Plunkett’s in Strathfoyle – to plant two large downy birch trees as a way of saying thank you for their efforts.
