We joined Gracehill Primary School on a windy and wet day at the end of February. After a good lunch (kindly provided by the school) we are ready to plant trees, despite the weather!
Five groups of children, about twenty in each, came out to plant trees. Our mission was to plant 100 trees, a few small hazel and Ash, and some taller hazel and grey willow.
The children worked in pairs to ensure everyone got to plant a tree.
The area was on a bank at the far side of football area. It was not easy to dig, but the kids were very strong! And, after an hour and half, the small woodland was already planted.
This work has helped the school to complete the garden that they have already created with flowers and vegetables.
The children had a lot of fun and so did we!
