On a warm, sunny day in January, we arrived in County Tyrone with a van full of trees ready to plant in Donaghey Primary School. The school is lucky to be surrounded by a delightful landscape of fields and farming land and they have reasonable sized grounds with a few fruit trees and plenty of flower bulbs ready for the spring.

The day began with two groups of happy pupils who joined us to plant three more big fruit trees to add to the previous ones. In no time these trees will provides some lovely fruit for everybody in the school to enjoy.

Simultaneously, some small hawthorn trees were planted at the back of the school to make a hedgerow that will provide shelter for birds and wildlife. At the end of the day our little helpers went back to the school for lunch after a very satisfying morning’s work!
