Fancy a tree? When we started our trip to Doagh Primary School in County Antrim, we had no idea that we would have the pleasure of planting trees with Willy Wonka, Superman & Co.! As part of the 10th World Book Day, the children were dressed up as their favourite characters and even the wellies seemed to fit. What a piece of luck for the local press photographer!
Aware of the fact that there wouldn’t be any books without trees, the children took their job seriously and with great enthusiasm. With a little help from the sun, the planting session flowed smoothly and in a good spirit.
Two birch and a rowan tree on the school grounds will remind the children of this slightly unusual day.
