At the beginning of the day, it looked unlikely that any trees would be planted – a howling northerly and lying snow would put paid to that! But, the determination of the teacher who applied for free trees and lovely sunshine that melted away the snow, meant that the children got out of class to plant their new trees.
As part of a long term plan for a wildlife garden, a mixture of Rowan, Hazel, Elder, Grey Willow and Downy Birch were planted to form the woodland edge habitat. Hopefully this will be the beginning of a new resource that the school can use for teaching.
