The Aslan Association want to improve the grounds of The Church of the Annunciation, Knocknagoney where the Aslan Centre is located.
Despite the chilly (and wet) weather, twenty-five local school children and representatives from the local community planted a mixture of native trees around the Aslan Centre, as part of the “Goney Honey Project”. The trees selected were in keeping with the existing environment and also known for attracting bees.
David McCartney, the project leader, explained the importance of the tree planting to the Aslan Centre. “These native trees will form a mini woodland close to our apiary, encouraging bees into the area”. Six new beehives will be positioned in the grounds as part of the Goney Honey Project.
