Native trees and woodlands are an important part of our natural heritage. The Northern Ireland Tree Campaign, supported by Environment and Heritage Service, invites schools and community groups to apply for free native trees to enhance their local environment and to benefit biodiversity.

Terms and conditions

  • Please ensure that no environmental designations, such as ASSI, ESA, SAC etc. are in place in the planting location. It is each group’s responsibility to ensure that you are not damaging the environment by planting on an environmentally fragile site. If you are in any doubt, please check with your Local Authority or Environment and Heritage Service
  • Trees will be awarded following a satisfactory site visit to the planting site by Conservation Volunteers staff
  • Conservation Volunteers reserves the right to refuse any application
  • Priority will be given to groups that have not received free trees in previous years
  • Conservation Volunteers reserves the right to limit the trees for each project
  • Conservation Volunteers will attend the planting of any free trees
  • Subsequent management of trees is essential to the successful establishment of your trees. Applications will only be accepted where we are sure that this management will be carried out. In the event that the management we recommend is NOT carried out, we reserve the right to seek reimbursement for the cost of the trees and associated planting material.
  • The budget is limited. Applicants are advised to apply early. No more applications can be considered after the budget has been spent.

Read information about tree selection and how to care for your trees during the first years of life in their new home.

Please feel free to contact us if you require any advice about trees or biodiversity of any kind!
