Move over winter, spring is in the air at Musgrave Park where plans are taking shape for an exciting new community garden and allotment site.

Conservation Volunteers are working in partnership with Belfast City Council and the Public Health Agency to create the public garden with the help of local residents and we need your help!

The project started in mid-January with plans including a communal area of raised beds for food growing, seating, polytunnel for plant propagation and training, a wildlife area and Allotments suitable for local groups.

Groups already involved include a women's group, volunteers from a homeless shelter, local primary school children, international volunteers and children from a neighbouring respite centre.

Over the next few months we will be offering opportunities for individuals and groups to be involved in taster sessions and regular weekly projects to get the garden ready for the spring season. Come along and learn the basics of how to set up your own space for growing and be part of this exciting new project.

The project is open to any individuals or groups and no previous gardening experience is necessary as all skills can be learned on site.

For more information on the project and to get involved contact Helen Tomb on 028 9064 5169 or email H.Tomb@btcv.org.uk
