A sensory garden in the grounds of Lakeview Hospital was officially opened by Dr David Bellamy OBE on 3 February.
Bellamy said “I was delighted to open the new Lakeview Hospital Sensory Garden and to see the wonderful work Conservation Volunteers has undertaken to enhance learning disability services.”
The event was also a celebration of the Green Gym and Tom Flood, Chief Executive of “BTCV”:http://www.btcv.org/ said: “Working in partnership with the Health Trust has enabled our “Green Gym”:http://www.cvni.org/greengym project to engage with this specific group and expand the benefits of contact with the natural environment to them.”
The event was run in partnership with the Western Health and Social Care Trust and the garden was funded by the Friends of Stradreagh.
It was designed and created by the “Conservation Volunteers’ L’Derry Action Team”:http://www.cvni.org/cats/.
