Fit future for people and wildlife

Children from Rosetta

Conservation Volunteers Northern Ireland and Rosetta Primary School in South Belfast have been hard at work developing a wildlife area on the grounds of the school.

This project, which is funded by 'Fit Futures' has allowed Conservation Volunteers to deliver a number of sessions to encourage children and adults to get active and engaged with their surrounding environment.

So far we have attracted wildlife by making and hanging our popcorn and fruit bird feeders, trimmed back our living willow dome and cleared the area of lying organic debris to construct our bug hotel made from 100% recycled material.

We have recently hosted an open session to include parents and guardians and had a magnificent turnout! Family members were willing to show their support for the work done so far by chipping in to finish our bug hotel which was a great success.

Conservation Volunteers would like to take the opportunity to thank the parents, guardians and staff at Rosetta Primary School for their cooperation and support.
