The Green Machine
The Green Machine is an 8 metre long lorry! The lorry will drive to any corner of Northern Ireland - direct to your door - to deliver a package of environmental education tailored to the age and ability of your group.
Who can take part?
Inside the lorry are a host of learning resources that focus primarily on young people under 25 years of age. So, if you are a school group, after-schools club, youth club or, indeed, any other group of young people, then the Green Machine has something to offer you!
What happens?
We appreciate the workload of teachers/facilitators and that is why our experienced staff take account of your needs, then specially design each workshop to your requirements, helping make the most effective use of your time. Workshops and activities neatly fit the National Curriculum.
Project Ojectives
- to provide greater environmental knowledge and understanding
- to stimulate interest amongst the participants to become involved in practical projects such as tree planting and recycling
Workshops cover such things as recycling, the natural world around us, paper-making, tree planting, food chains, minibeasts and many more.
Programmes are designed to be a starting point to encourage children and young people to look at the world around them in a new and more informed way and to help them connect to it.
In all, we try to make your experience with the Green Machine:
- Fun
- Informative
- Stimulating
- Challenging
- Relevant
- Linked to the National Curriculum
If only for part of a day, you will be relieved of some of your workload – and, by taking advantage of a wide range of guided projects, factsheets, signposts to resources and teachers notes, you will be able continue environmental learning throughout the year. You will be limited only by imagination – and we find that young people rarely run out of that!
